WAXING / WANING

Through this body of work I explore my journey through therapy. Waxing and waning is a term used in therapy to describe the ever-changing fluctuation of mental health, both the good and the bad, and how to live with and understand these fluctuations that can change without warning. I dissect the differences between the tangible discomforts of panic disorder and the fabricated thinking errors that come with my anxiety and OCD. This vulnerable body of work began as a form of exposure therapy. The use of imagery and language throughout are all derived from my experiences and therapy notes. My work conveys the weight, severity, and legitimacy of these experiences, while also demonstrating great strength and perseverance.

This body of work was completed in 2022/23 and shown as a solo exhibition at the Marinette Fine Arts Gallery in Marinette, Wisconsin.
